I think almost everyone working in IT knows VMWARE as one of the top brands for virtualization. The technology from VMWARE which helps with virtualization and cloud is called vSphere.
vSphere is a set of applications from VMWARE which helps in creating a Cloud Computing Virtualization Platform which includes an Operating System, which is technically a Hyper Visor (Bare metal Hyper Visor) also called as ESXi, vCenter server for centralized management and monitoring, vSphere Data Protection (VDP) for backup and recovery, vRealize operations manager for monitoring health and performance, etc.
ESXi stands for Elastic Sky X integrated, formally it is ESX.
